James "Woody" Woodlief

James “Woody” Woodlief, 89, of Wake Forest passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at his home. He was born November 22, 1932 in Franklin County.

James had been a part of the Wake Forest / Rolesville community for most of his life. He spent over 36 years working for Holding Oil Company located in downtown Wake Forest, and considered the employees as family. James worked part time at Bright Funeral Home and was incredibly appreciative of the arrangements made that aligned with his wishes. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church for 85 years and enjoyed being a part of the lawn care needs for over 26 years. His favorite hobbies consisted of riding his motorcycle, cutting grass and spending time with family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the Bright Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Joey Chafton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2124 Oak Grove Church Road, Youngsville, NC 27596.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Nealie Woodlief, father, Bennie Woodlief, brother, Claude Woodlief, sister, Nancy Debman and his wife, Peggy Woodlief.

He is survived by his brother, Carl Ray Woodlief, his son, Brian Pleasants “Bubba”, his daughter, Lisa Sullivan, grandchildren, Zachary Pleasants “Zackman”, Brandon Pleasants and Sarah Bumgarner also longtime friend, Linnie Alford.

He wanted everyone to know that he was thankful for Cindy Barham for her help and care. Special thanks to Officer Megan Jones for leading the funeral procession.

Pallbearers will be Brian Pleasants, Zachary Pleasants, Brandon Pleasants, James Holding, John Ford and Kenneth Pearce. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Holding Oil Company, Wake New Hope Fire Department and Wake Forest Fire Department.
