Joan Elizabeth McNamara

Joan Elizabeth McNamara, 85, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday November 20, 2020 in Raleigh. She was born Feburary 18, 1935 in Westchester New York, a daughter of John J. Link Jr., and Genevieve (Miller) Link. Joan lived in West Chester, PA for a long period of time,and then lived in Raleigh for the last 7 years.    

Joan was homemaker and housewife. She was a devoted wife and mother to five children. She loved to vacation with her family on Cape Cod.  Years later she enjoyed vacationing at Pawleys Island, South Carolina with her children and grandchildren.  She had a passion for decorating, being a seamstress, flower arranging and reading suspense novels.  The thing that gave her the most joy was spending time with her grandchildren, who gave her undivided love and attention.  

Joan is survived by her children: Kathy DiGregory, Lynne Davis (Robert), Timothy McNamara III (Allison), John McNamara (Debbie), and Kevin McNamara; grandchildren: James Davis(Catherine); Megan, Sarah and Evan DiGregory; Alexandra and Dabney McNamara; Nicholas, Ethan and Sean McNamara, and Rebecca and Conner McNamara; 
Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Timothy E. McNamara Jr, and her parents, John J. Link Jr and Genevieve Link. 

A visitation will be held at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St, Wake Forest, NC, on Sunday, November 29 from 1 to 2 o’clock in the afternoon, followed by a funeral service in the Bright Funeral Home chapel.  Interment will be at Pine Forest Memorial Garden.
