Joan Shelters Hamilton, 88, of Youngsville, passed away June 4, 2021. She was born in Chautauqua, NY to the late George Gerald and Mary Helen Blanchard Shelters. Joan graduated from Grove City College, and earned her Master’s Degree from Tufts University. In addition to raising her family, she loved camping, nature, anthropology, weaving, quilting, and reading a good book. Joan loved her family dearly, and was kind and thoughtful to everyone she met. She was a wonderful mother and best friend, and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Byron Bruce Hamilton, and her son David Shelters Hamilton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Elizabeth Parker and husband Michael of Youngsville, granddaughter Emily H. Parker and great-granddaughter Kinley Jones both of Youngsville, her sister Jean Hartweg and husband Bill of Jamestown, NY.
A service celebrating Joan’s life will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
