John Anthony Konopka, Sr., 75, of Youngsville, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in Raleigh. He was born December 10, 1943 in Erie, Pennsylvania a son of the late Stanley Chester Konopka and Stella Joan (Maciukiewicz) Konopka.

John served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a graduate of Gannon College, in Erie, PA. He spent most of his career working as an accountant with the National Credit Union Administration. John loved to bowl, golf and was an avid reader.

John was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Ann Konopka, his brothers Edward and Leonard Konopka.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Lou Konopka; his two sons: John Anthony Konopka, Jr., and his wife Emelie of Wellington, FL, and Dr. Scott Edward Konopka and his wife Rebecca of Wake Forest; grandchildren: Caitlyn Konopka of Wellington, FL., Ava Konopka and Nathan Konopka both of Wake Forest; his brother, Stanley Konopka of Erie, PA., and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest, NC 27587.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 11, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena, 420 W. Holding Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Garden, Wake Forest.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
