John David Wesson

March 17, 1976 ~ January 22, 2024 (age 47) 47 Years Old

Tribute

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of John David Wesson, age 47, of Zebulon, NC on January 22, 2024.

John will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Lauralee Anne Wesson (47), his loving mother, Julie Espinoza Hildahl, his brothers Dan (Sara) Schmitt, Jacob Hildahl, Mark Hildahl, his sister Kate (Nick)  Broadway, his in-laws Joseph and Beatrice Mahalick, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many, many friends.

John was born March 17, 1976 in Orlando, Florida.  John was a quiet, intelligent child with a tremendous sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously.  John went to high school in Goose Creek, SC and there he met his future wife, Lauralee in JROTC where they were Drill Team members.  John joined the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation and served with honor, having achieved distinction as a rifle expert, qualifying numerous times. He served his country overseas and is a combat veteran.  John loved scuba diving and after leaving the service, he achieved his dream of becoming a commercial diver.

John and Lauralee married November 4, 2000 in Wendell, NC and eventually settled in Zebulon, NC. They shared several previous years of deep friendship and love followed by 23 years of devoted marriage. John was passionate about his family, his beloved pets, his country, marksmanship, all things mechanical, and had an insatiable curiosity for everything around him. He brought smiles easily to those around him and always wanted to leave them with a story to tell. He was a proud Marine, a loving son and brother, a loyal friend, generous, and a partner in life beyond compare.

In John’s professional life he tirelessly supported his wife’s pursuit of education and establishing her career, as she in turn did for him. Over the years he found a calling in his chosen trade of Commercial HVAC, working for various local companies and meeting his dear friend and mentor, Richard Palmer who predeceased him. John also served as an HVAC instructor at Wake Technical Community College where he sought to pass his trade to coming generations. In the past year John acted on a longtime desire to establish a business of his own, becoming the commercial face of MTC Mechanical alongside his partners Ali Alwanzi and Ammar Jassanne. He often expressed a desire to leave a positive mark on the world worthy of remembrance. He succeeded in the hearts of those who came to love him.
