John Ellis Wooten, III, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday March 5, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Wake County the son of Shirley Sanderlin Wooten and the late John Ellis Wooten, Jr.
John, a graduate of Campbell University and lifelong resident of Wake Forest, owned and managed the Green and Wooten Insurance Agency. He was a faithful member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church sharing his love of gardening with the Community Garden Ministry and he enjoyed singing with the Chancel Choir and Men's Chorus. John was an active member of the Wake Forest Rotary Club. His love of fishing and Carolina basketball was only exceeded by his love for the Lord, his family and his friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon March 8, 2018 at the Wake Forest Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Slater officiating. A private burial will be held at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
John is survived by his wife of 42 years; Wanda Thompson Wooten, his sons; John E. Wooten, IV and wife Kristine of Raleigh and Michael T. Wooten of Wake Forest, mother; Shirley Sanderlin Wooten of Wake Forest, sister; Shirley Katherine “Kate” Forgeng and husband Joe of Raleigh, brother; William S. “Bill” Wooten and wife Terry of Clarksville, VA.
