Joseph J. Piechnik, "Pop"

March 26, 1924 ~ March 13, 2021 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Tribute

Joseph Piechnik, known to family and friends as “Pop” or “Papa Joe”, passed away on March 13th, 2021, at the age of 96. Pop passed peacefully surrounded by three generations of his family and friends. It is an understatement to say that his energy and presence will forever be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Pop was born to George and Catherine Piechnik on March 26th, 1924, and grew up in the small town of Conemaugh, Pennsylvania. He joined the United States Army in May of 1943, and served our country in World War II until he was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Pop then worked for Endicott Johnson in Johnson City, N.Y. for over thirty years. Most of Pops’ greatest enjoyments were watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow up. He was always at important events and stood beside them when they reached milestones. Pop also enjoyed being a regular at Brothers Two in Endwell, N.Y., where he would enjoy the company of friends, play card games and try his luck with quickdraw.

Pop is predeceased by his mother and father, three sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by a daughter, Dyana Stecker (Ralph), and two sons, John Piechnik (Kathy) and Terry Piechnik (Heidi), four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and close family friend, Denny Lusht.

Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia, at the convenience of the family.
