Judy Lynn McGuigan

Judy Lynn (Joehrendt) McGuigan “Sunshine”, age 64, of Franklinton died surrounded by family on Friday, November 15, 2019, at Hillside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following twenty years of struggle with declining health. Judy, daughter of Shirley (Skallerup) and Edward Joehrendt, was born on January 22, 1955, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Following her graduation from William R. Boone High School with the class of 1973, Judy attended the University of Central Florida gaining her Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration in 1976. In 1984, Judy was awarded her Master’s degree in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University. On July 9, 1988, she was united in marriage to Shaun McGuigan at Mother of Sorrows Parish in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. Judy was an amazingly inspired and determined wife, mother, and friend who brought love, hope, and strength to all who came to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Judy is survived by her husband, Shaun; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Candace Joehrendt; her mother-in-law, Brenda McGuigan; her two daughters, Ashley and Jenna; her Sunshine Girls, Michelle Fischer, Emily Zimmerman, and Krista York, and her ‘adoptive’ children Daniel Bombeck and Carolyn Larson, and all the other children in her life. “I take them all” she always said.

Memorial Service and Vigil will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest, with Father Dave Miller officiating. Lunch will be held at Gatehouse Tavern at 12:00pm in Wake Forest. “This too shall pass”, Sunshine. “But you are always in our hearts”, your family.

Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service.
