Larry Lee Brakefield

Larry Lee Brakefield 77, of Raleigh NC, passed away peacefully Tuesday September 15, 2020 at home. He was born February 5th, 1943 in St. Louis MO to the late Barney James and Renva Lucile Brakefield that relocated to Oakland, CA in the mid 1950’s. Larry was a Musicians Union Local 47 member and retired Delta Airlines employee. The constant entertainer for family and friends, always with his guitar in hand, he had a quick wit, and was the life of the party, sharing his stories, love of old Westerns and Hollywood trivia, a game of Yahtzee or Scrabble, while keeping the mood light & happy with his corny jokes, and a whole lot of laughter. He was proceeded in death by his younger brother and best buddy, Dan Brakefield.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Robin Catalde and husband Wayne of Santa Clarita, CA, his older brother Mike Caraffa of Denver, CO, his companion Beverly Smith-Hancock of Raleigh, and a host of cousins, extended family and many great friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
