Tribute

Linda Griffin Roberson of Wake Forest passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a native of Williamston, NC, the daughter of Irvin Clifford (deceased) and Willie Mae Griffin. She spent her entire working career in education serving as a guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal. She was a strong advocate for elementary aged kids and made sure they were all treated with respect and received the absolute best instruction. She was a member of the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Sammy, who she shared 42 years of marriage, a daughter, Elizabeth Brooke Wall and husband Kyle, son Samuel Thomas Roberson, Jr. (Tommy) and wife Jessa, granddaughters Hazel Mae Wall and Janie Grace Wall, grandson Samuel Thomas Roberson III, her mother Willie Mae Griffin, sister Neta Ann Warren and husband Davey, brother Irvin Clifford Griffin Jr, brother-in-law John Roberson and wife Sue, brother-in-law Jim Roberson and wife Linda, sister-in-law Faye Roberson and husband Joe (deceased) and many cousins, nieces and nephews she loved so much.

Linda attended public school in Williamston and was a cheerleader in high school. Linda began her college career at East Carolina University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Counselor Education. While at ECU, she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority where she served as President. After graduation from ECU, Linda started her education career in Tarboro, NC where friends became family living on Brandon Avenue. It was a wonderful place to live and raise her kids. She later moved with her family to Wake Forest and continued her education by attending North Carolina State University and receiving a Masters of Administration Degree. She was employed by the Wake County Public School System until her retirement.

Linda absolutely adored her grandchildren and spoiled them every chance she had. She loved spending time on the North Carolina coast, especially Southern Shores and Emerald Isle. She had a signature infectious laugh that endeared her to anyone she met and she never met a stranger. Linda also loved to travel and enjoyed the trips she made to Europe, especially Paris, France. She loved going to estate sales and having lunch dates with her many retired friends.

A special thanks for the love and care Linda received from the doctors and nurses of Duke Cancer Center in Durham and Transitions Life Care of Raleigh, along with the many amazing friends in her life who helped her so much these past few years.
