Linwood Junior O'Neal

Linwood O’Neal, 81, of Youngsville passed away peacefully at Hillside Nursing Center. He was a self-employed carpenter early in life, then joined the NCDOT where he retired in July 2005. He had many passions in his life with the biggest being his family. He loved family cookouts and get togethers where everyone would gather and laugh until it hurt and have the best times making lots of memories. He loved watching and going to NASCAR races. Another passion he had was truck pulling.  He built and drove the “Country Outlaw”.  He participated in truck pulls for many years and brought home many trophies to put on his shelf to be proud of. Fishing was another favorite past time of his. Whether at the coast, on a pier, or standing by a pond, he always had a great time when he went especially with his grandson Tyler.

He loved ice cream and milkshakes and would frequently be caught eating “Half-a-G”.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years Joann, his sons Timmy and Linwood Thomas (Boo Boo), his daughter Nesby Ann, brothers Oscar and Sant, as well as sisters Blanche and Ina Mae. He was son to the late Connie and Nesby O’Neal of Wake Forest.

He is survived by his children, Bret O’Neal (Joan), Kristy Harrison (Todd), David Duke (Lisa). Grandchildren, Tyler O’Neal (Katie), Ashleigh Campbell (Thomas), Dylan Harrison and Hollie Boeye (Casey) and great-grandchildren, Ada Grace and Evan Rylie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Linwood will be dearly missed. His keen sense of humor and soft-spoken demeanor will never be forgotten. The family will be gathering from 11 to 12 noon, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Bright Funeral Home Chapel at 12 Noon.

Friends may visit with the family from 11 to 12 noon prior to the service. Casual dress is requested.
