Mary Susan (Gilmore) Eagle

Mary Susan Gilmore Eagle, 72 of Knightdale, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at her residence.  She was born October 25, 1948 in Sampson County, NC to the late Louis and Pearle Parrish Gilmore.  Mary retired from Wake County Public Schools after 20 plus years of service as a bus driver.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kenneth “Bob” Eagle, a step-son Reid Eagle, and her son-in-law Robbie Stephenson.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Millie Stephenson of Louisburg, two sons, Ernest King, Jr. of Benson, and Donald King and wife Shannon of Zebulon, one step- son Dean Eagle of Winston-Salem, one step-daughter, Susie Eagle of Louisburg, four sisters, Margaret Certain of Alabama, Ann Knowles of Clinton, Patricia West of Clinton, and Tammy Trahan of Virginia, three brothers, Louis Gilmore of Clinton, Michael Downer of Newport News, VA, and Rick Gunter of Mt. Pleasant, SC, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her best friend Leigh Coe of Knightdale.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening April 27, 2021 at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wake Forest, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  A service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
