Mary Elizabeth Turner Young

Mary Elizabeth Turner Young, age 87, departed this life on July 11, 2019 to be with her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by, a daughter, Diane Haws; a son, Mark Young, his significant other, Julie Gravely, and her children Andrew, Bennett, Cassidy and Megan. Mary is also survived by her brother, C Allan Turner and his wife, Joan.

Mary is preceded in death by her father and mother, Johnnie and Julia Turner as well as sister, Shirley Emmons, brothers, Johnnie, Walter and Donald Turner.

Mary dedicated over 30 years of service for the state of North Carolina as part of the State Bureau of Investigation family, ending her career with the state in 1989. Upon her retirement from the state, Mary began volunteer work at Wake Medical Hospital which blossomed into a permanent part-time job for the next ten years.

Upon retirement from Wake Med Mary settled into a life of caring for her many pets which she loved and cared for deeply. She also enjoyed Sunday school, bowling, playing Bunco and taking trips to the beach and mountains with her friends and co-workers.

There will be a memorial service in Mary’s honor at 3:00 pm Saturday July 20th 2019 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest NC 27587. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service.
