Nancy Merritt Kelly, 81, of Rolesville, passed away on Sunday morning October 11, 2020 at her daughter's home. She was born in Wake County on February 15, 1939 at Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Raleigh the daughter of the late Clifton and Emily Rogers Merritt. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kelly and by a brother, Wayne Merritt.
Nancy retired from the NCDMV in 1991. She was very involved in her community and served as a Rolesville Town Commissioner for 25 years and served as the Rolesville Mayor for 6 years. Nancy was a member of the Rolesville EMS and was a certified Emergency Medical Technician. She was a member of the Women of the Moose.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon October 14, 2020 at the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating.
Nancy is survived by her children, Roxey Wilkins and Clif Mangum; brothers, James Merritt of Wilmington and William Merritt of Florida; a sister, Linda Self of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Wesley Clay Wilkins, Jr., David Kyle Wilkins, Felicia Mangum Idol and Crystal Mangum Kirby; 4 great-grandchildren.
