Nathan R. "Rusty" Forrest

Nathan Russell Forrest “Rusty”, of Wake Forest NC, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 3, 2023. He was 73 years old.

He was born to James Howard Forrest and Alice “Benjie” Steed on March 12, 1949 in Raleigh NC. He was raised and lived most of his life in the Wake Forest/Youngsville area where he was well known and loved. Rusty was an entrepreneur with many passions, and a prolific artist. From volunteer firefighting to spending over 50 years in the dental industry, he loved doing many things. His true passion for the last 20 years has been running the family owned NC General Store and being it’s artist in residence. Rusty devoted his life to loving and caring for his family. He was very proud of his children and all of their accomplishments and loved to talk all the time about his family.

He is survived by his mother Alice “Benjie” Steed, brother Jim Forrest (wife Carol), children, Tim Forrest (wife Kate), Michael Forrest (wife Carole), April Forrest, Haley Bunnell, and Hannah Bunnell. Grandchildren, Moses, Eleanora, Nathan, Benjamin, Samuel, Morgan, Patrick, Eugene, Alexander, and Elijah. As well as his two closest friends Ricky Timberlake and Clara Stallings and his grand-dog Jake.

A service to celebrate Rusty’s life will be held on Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest, NC. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a service beginning at 7:00 pm.
