Patricia Thorne Schmoeger

Patricia Thorne Schmoeger, 68, of Raleigh passed away on Monday morning January 11, 2021. She was born in Binghamton, NY the daughter of the late Doris Sherman Thorne and William Duncan Thorne.

Pat was a nurse and supervisor at Rex Hospital for 43 years where she positively influenced the lives of thousands of people (patients and coworkers).  She was always there with confidence, a smile, and often a milk shake to sooth your soul.  Pat was an avid horse enthusiast.  She competed in Dressage and had a small business rehabilitating horses from the vet school.  She loved the outdoors and spent many sunny afternoons hiking or working at the barn.  Pat was a loving wife and a caring mother to our son, Adam.  She was a friend to all she met and she never met a stranger.  

Pat is survived by her husband; Terry Schmoeger, Son; Adam Schmoeger, Brothers; Alan & Robert Thorne, Sister; Nancy Hinkel, and dogs; Burton & Teak.

Due to COVID a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice.
