Patti Sue (Sykes) Darrow, 70, of Raleigh, passed away at her home on November 21, 2019. She was born April 9, 1949 in Cazenovia, NY, a daughter of the late Charles and Marjorie Sykes.
Patti studied at Broome Community College, where she met her husband Robert. They began their lives in Apalachin, NY and lived there for approximately 40 years where they raised their family before relocating to NC. Patti was a member of Neowahga Chapter #419 Eastern Stars, Cazenovia, NY, and the Triple Cities Street Rod Club. She loved her family, and supporting her grandchildren in their many activities, Sunday drives after church and finding new places. Patti also enjoyed her travels to find covered bridges and eating out at her favorite diners. Her many travels were always enjoyed when she was riding in the 1929 Model A pickup truck and attending the many car shows. When her daughters were growing up, Patti was a Girl Scout leader, volunteered at the Apalachin Elementary School and loved working with the children. Patti was an avid reader and especially enjoyed local authors. She will be missed by her family and her grand-dogs and cats.
Patti is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Darrow; her children: Staci Romeo and her husband Harvey Jr., of Apalachin, NY, and Ami Gearing and her husband Michael, of Raleigh; grandchildren: Rachel and Charles Romeo of Apalachin, NY, and Andrew and Megan Gearing, of Raleigh; sister, Carol Wheatley and husband David, of Central Square, NY, and brother-in-law: David Darrow and his wife Carol, of Queen Creek, AZ, and sister-in-law, Bobby Renault and husband Ray, of Owens Cross Roads, AZ. and nieces and nephews: Marcia and Steve Meyers, Cheri and Mark Hegarty, Toni and Jonathon Ryder, Lori Crisp, Brett Darrow, Courtney and Hugh Nguyen, David (Jr) and Robyn Darrow, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law: Russell Darrow.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 25, 2019 at Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest, NC.
