Rebecca "Becky" Davis Pleasants

Rebecca “Becky” Davis Pleasants, 97, of Wake Forest, NC died Thursday, September 15, 2022 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Nellie Powell Davis and Charles Allen Davis, and was a member of Stony Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pleasants became the first Food Service Director at Northern Wake Hospital when it opened in 1962.  She held this position for fourteen years, then became the Residence Director with the YWCA of Wake County for eleven years, retiring in 1987.  Mrs. Pleasants then was Assistant Manager for Meals on Wheels on Whitaker Road in Raleigh, NC and served as Manager at the Tucker Street site and Program Coordinator for all Wake County sites.

She was a loving, kind, dedicated friend, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved her family dearly and they always came first in her life.

Mrs. Pleasants was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and did volunteer work at the Northern Wake Senior Center and Meals on Wheels.  She was the recipient of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs Annual Unsung Hero award in 2001.  In 2006 she was the Senior Corps Ambassador for the Northern Wake Senior Center.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Bright Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Powell Family Cemetery on Purnell Road.

Mrs. Pleasants is survived by her daughter, Sue P. Sisson and husband Verne of Raleigh, NC, son, Donald Pleasants and wife Wendy of Wake Forest, NC, grandchildren, Nikki Mullen and husband Mann of Bunn, Zachary Davis Sisson of Raleigh, NC, Ricky Fortner and wife Nikki of Rolesville, NC, great grandchildren, Emma and Laney Mullen of Bunn, NC, Sienna, Maddox and Lily Fran Fortner of Rolesville, NC.
