Rena Longo Urso, age 92, died peacefully on December 30, 2018, in Wake Forest, NC. Rena was born on Nov. 15, 1926 in Hartford, CT. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph S. Urso.

Rena is survived by her sons, Charles Urso and spouse, Jayne, of Sagamore Beach, MA; and Mark Urso and his spouse, Susan, of Windsor Locks, CT; two step granddaughters Lindsay and Kelly Marcin of Windsor Locks, CT; and her daughter, Mary M. Bandoni and her husband, Paul, of Wake Forest, NC; and her sister Joan Longo of Lake Worth, FL. The couple had four grandchildren, Mark Urso and his wife Aimee of South Boston, MA, Michelle Milton of East Hampton, CT and Joseph and Michael Bandoni of Wake Forest, NC, Three great grandchildren, Bryson and Mia Milton of East Hampton, CT, and Daniel Urso of South Boston, MA.

Rena was a loving wife and mother. She married Joseph in 1952 and they moved to Windsor Locks, CT where the family was raised. She worked as a bookkeeper at Dexters, for more than 20 years. Although they loved Windsor Locks and the many friendships they had developed, in 1980 Rena and Joe retired to enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod and be neighbors to her cousin, Gloria and spouse, Robert Saunders. The Cape offered a beautiful setting to socialize and entertain any friend passing through.

In 2013 she relocated to North Carolina to be closer to her daughter Mary.
Rena was a fun loving and kind woman; who was a devote Catholic. She enjoyed reading, politics, Wall Street, and Bingo. Her family and friends will always remember her as a wonderful and special person with a great sense of humor and quick wit. Rena cherished her many very close and personal friends, a number of which considered themselves her fourth child.
Per her request, a Catholic Memorial Mass will be scheduled in Spring 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis MA. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Joseph, at the Bourne National Cemetery at a time suitable to the family.

The family would like to thank Leanne Minnick, PA-C of Doctors Making House calls and WakeMed Raleigh hospital’s Doctors and nurses for their care and compassion during her illness. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
