Richard A. Pereira

Richard Anthony Pereira passed away quietly with dignity and grace, on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He loved life and fought courageously for nine months against pancreatic cancer.

Richard never met a stranger, he welcomed all he met into his day and made friends for life. He was known to tell others “to make the world a better place”. What he didn’t realize was that for everyone who knew him and loved him, he made their world a better place with every one of his smiles. Despite his big character and personality, Richard was a quiet man who saw the best in others and encouraged personal growth and confidence in those he took under his wing.
His favorite pass times included spending time with his wife and son, surf fishing, gardening, renovation projects, relaxing on Oak Island watching the sun set and swapping fish stories with old friends.

Cherished husband and beloved father, Richard is survived by his wife Lori, son Evan and lovely Palla, the family’s cat. He is preceded by his parents.
His family would like to gratefully acknowledge the support received from dedicated teams of caregivers at Duke Cancer Institute Cary, Transitions Lifecare of Raleigh, and from friends and family members who called often lifting Richard’s spirits and strengthening his resolve. Donations to either of these worthy organizations in Richard’s memory are gratefully accepted.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm to honor Richard.
