Ricky Dean New

Ricky Dean New, 60, passed away peacefully Friday August 3, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 6, 1958, to his father, the late Robert Dean “Bobby” New and his mother, the late Linda Ann Smith in Durham, NC. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Parker Wade New; mother-in-law, Carol Ann Bettany; uncles, David Smith, Theo Toole, and Max New; aunts, Katherine Toole and Rita New. 

Ricky served our country in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed in the remodeling and construction business. He was most recently employed by Aqua Edge installing water filtration systems.

He was an avid Duke Basketball fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Ricky’s Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest.

He is survived: by his wife, Andrea Bettany New of the home; a son, James Robert New of Durham; a daughter, Jessica Michelle Hicks and husband, Kevin of Archdale, NC; grandchildren, Bridget New, Peyton New and Grayson Hicks; father-in-law, Michael Bettany; sisters, Diane New and wife, Jackie of San Francisco, Angela Pridgen Turner and husband, John of Roxboro, NC; aunts, Sondra Paschall of Madison, AL, Brenda Byrd and Carol Harvey, both of Durham, NC, Becky Smith of Timberlake, NC; many cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters- in- law and step family members.

A visitation service will be held 6:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest (919) 556-5811.
