Robert Louis Gaudier

March 2, 1935 ~ February 4, 2024 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Robert "Bob" Gaudier, 88 sadly passed away February 4, 2024 after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure.

Bob was born to Leo and Jenny Gaudier March 2, 1935 in Queens, NY. He grew up in The Bronx and raised his family in Suffolk County and later in Dutchess County, NY. He and his wife Sandy were long time residents of Knightdale, North Carolina and most recently residents of The Gardens of Wakefield Independent Living. A graduate of Hunter College with a bachelor’s degree in Geology Bob enjoyed everything about science, and was proud to be on the team at Grumman Aeronautics and Fairchild Aircraft that collected data that was used for the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) to help put the first man on the moon in 1969.

He will be remembered for the joy and singing he created while playing the piano at family gatherings, and it didn't take much to convince him to play any public piano. He would light up the room with a funny story or just kid around with whoever could banter back with him. As a big Yankees baseball fan he never left the house without his Yankee cap which sparked many conversations that turned strangers into friends. He especially enjoyed making little kids laugh.

He is preceded in death by his mother Jenny and Father Leo Gaudier.

Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Sandra Gaudier; daughters, Janice (Brian) Williams, and Pamela (Eddie) Lechuga; Granddaughters, Erin Williams, Brooke Lechuga, and Elaine Lechuga; and sister, Carol (John) Petrie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.

A Celebration of Life is planned for March 2nd (his birthday). Details to follow.
