Rodney Douglas Frazier

July 5, 1971 ~ February 8, 2024 (age 52) 52 Years Old

Tribute

Rodney Douglas Frazier, 52, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on February 8, 2024. As he left this world, he was ushered into the arms of Jesus, whom he had known as his personal Lord and Savior since the age of 11.

Rodney was born on July 5, 1971, to Doug and Jan Frazier in Wake County, NC. After attending Friendship Christian Schools through the 8th grade, Rodney switched to Wake Forest-Rolesville Schools to finish out high school, graduating in 1990. An avid soccer player throughout his school years, Rodney played in rec leagues, for his school teams, and on the CASL travel team. Always a hard worker, following high school graduation, he attended Wake Tech while also employed at True Value Hardware. In April 1991, Rodney welcomed his first child, a daughter named Chelsey Marie, with his then wife, Roxanne McIntyre. Joining the Air Force in 1992, Rodney began a career that would develop a passion and direction for the remainder of his life. He completed BASIC training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and was then stationed at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, CO and overseas in Büchel Air Base in Germany. During this time in Germany, he welcomed a son, Forrest Sterling, in March of 1995. While in active duty, Rodney had the opportunity to play soccer for the Air Force team until he was honorably discharged in 1996. Upon his return to the states, Rodney joined Doug Frazier Tile, working with his dad in the family business until Doug retired in 2005. At this point, Rodney took over the business until its closure in 2008 when he returned to school, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security and Criminal Justice. Using his education and military experience, Rodney moved from tile work to security, providing physical security to various NC companies as well as training others as a concealed carry instructor. With his uncle Randy Carroll, he offered these classes until his passion for veterans led him to take a role as a Veterans Services Officer in Granville County, NC, until he retired in 2022. Throughout the years, Rodney’s love for soccer continued as he coached Wake Forest United within the CASL league.

In 2021, Rodney met Sara Salmen online. After a whirlwind courtship, they married on February 12, 2022, in a small ceremony in the mountains they both loved. Rodney was a devoted son and father and a loyal friend to many. Just before meeting Sara, Rodney acquired a puppy he named Colt, and after his marriage, he inherited Sara’s cat named Bug. Returning to his skills in construction, Rodney’s most recent project has been a complete remodel of his and Sara’s home in Raleigh. Together they were dreaming up what could be in the cozy ranch house, and Rodney’s master craftsmanship shows in the little details as well as the larger design.

Rodney loved spending time in the NC mountains in the home his family has owned since 1989. There he enjoyed four-wheeling, tubing, golfing, and hanging out with friends. His hobbies included shooting and keeping up with his sports teams, specifically Manchester United Premier League Soccer. One of his deepest passions was for the values and ideals that serve as the foundation of the country he loved. A true patriot, Rodney was an immense reader and studied history voraciously, learning continually and loving to share that learning with others.

Rodney was predeceased by his father.

He is survived by his wife Sara; his mother, Jan; his daughter, Chelsey Mead (Dan); son, Sterling Frazier (Klaressa); and a granddaughter, Marlee Mead.
