Charlie Roland Young, 88, of Wake Forest, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was born August 1,1932 in Greene County, NC to the late Charlie Calvin and Mary Lula Brann Young. Roland was a member of Church of God 7th Day in Farmville. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Wake Forest VFW Post #187. He enjoyed going to church, serving the Lord, carpentry, learning new computer skills, accounting, and volunteering his time each spring offering tax preparation services for seniors. Roland's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. His quiet wisdom and generosity knew no bounds, and the love he shared with his family exemplified a life well-lived.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Baugh Young, a son, Charlie Roland Young, Jr., and two sisters, Dorothy Padgett and Ann King.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Sandra Young Jones and husband Rick, of Zebulon; his son, Dennis Young, of Pelham; his brother, John Young (Jackie), of Raleigh; five grandchildren: Jeff Jones (Heather) of Zebulon, Christina Burrell (Darin) of Fort Worth, TX, Jessica Young (Forrest) of Fuquay-Varina, Melissa Young of Maysville, and Laura Anne Young of Pelham; and five great-grandchildren, Jaythan, Esther, Bella Joy, Emmah, and Briony.
A celebration of Roland's life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Endecott officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Monday afternoon at the funeral home, and welcomes friends to join them at the home after the service for a picnic lunch.
