Ronald Alan Whidby

November 1, 1958 ~ December 25, 2019 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Tribute

On Wednesday, December 25, 2019, Ronald Alan Whidby, loving husband, devoted father of two children, and caring grandpa of one granddaughter passed away at the age of 61.

Ron was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 1, 1958 to Leonard Russell Whidby and Ruby Lorraine (Shetter) Whidby. His family moved to Raleigh when he was 2, so he always called Raleigh his home. He received his engineering degree from North Carolina State University in 1981. On September 28, 1985 he married Rachel Lee-Zeng Chang. They raised their two children, Michael and Michelle in Raleigh. He was a local small business owner of three family businesses in Raleigh.

Ron was an avid sports fan. He played football in high school, taught both of his children golf, and played on many tennis leagues with Rachel. He had an uncanny ability to turn everyday things into life lessons and always had the most patience with everyone. He was a great cook and a master at the grill.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Russ, his mother, Ruby, and his older brother, Ken. He is survived by his wife, Rachel, his two children, Michael and Michelle, his sister, Vickie, his brother, Ricky, and his granddaughter, Mackenzie.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 4th from 11am - 1pm at Bright Funeral Home at 405 S Main Street followed by a graveside service at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, January 25th at Brier Creek Country Club. Formal invitations will follow.
