Rose Evelyn (Knisley) McKee

Rose Evelyn Knisley McKee, formerly of Lexington, KY, passed away on March 28, 2022.

A native of Georgetown, KY, she graduated from Carson Newman College (now University). She worked in Nashville, TN for the Baptist Sunday School Board before marrying Robert McKee in 1948.

Rose pursued graduate studies at George Peabody College and UK. She was director of the kindergarten at her church, Rosemont Baptist, and wrote Sunday School lessons for the Baptist SS Board for many years. While at Rosemont, she was also Mission Friends director and SS teacher for the 12-year old girls’ and then the elderly ladies’ classes.

After 59 years in Lexington, she moved to Wake Forest, NC to be with her daughter, Ellen Plumblee.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert McKee in 1994, and by her son, Jim Bob McKee in 2011.

Survivors include daughter Ellen Plumblee and husband Steve, Grandsons Christopher (Taylor) Plumblee and Jeffrey (Jenna) Plumblee, and great-grandchildren Lily and Deacon Plumblee, Jacob Plumblee, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Sunday April 3 at 4pm.  A memorial service will be held at Rosemont Baptist in Lexington on April 30 at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to The American Bible Society, the Rosemont Baptist Church, or the Rolesville Baptist building fund.
