Ruth Anna (Waller) Hardwicke

January 2, 1947 ~ May 17, 2021 (age 74)

Ruth Anna Waller Hardwicke, 74, of Wake Forest was called home to be with Jesus, surrounded by her adoring family on May 17, 2021. Ruth was born in Virginia to the late George Calvin Waller Sr. and Irene Waller. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother George Calvin Waller Jr., her niece Lisa Austin, brother in laws Robbie Hardwicke, Jackie Hardwicke and mother-in-law Hazel Bowling.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Sid Hardwicke Jr., her children Kim Marx (Jon), Sydney DeWolf (Warren), Jonathan Hardwicke, her grandchildren Cooper Marx, Sutton Marx, James Pope, her siblings Linda Bowlin (Larry), Earl Waller (Lisa), Jeanie Acker (Frank), brother in law Gary Hardwicke (Barbara) and numerous nieces and nephews that lovingly called her Aunt Ruthie.

Ruth met Sid in high school and they were later married in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Linda and husband Larry.

Ruth loved the Lord and was His dedicated servant from an early age. She spent many years serving the church in various ways including the choir, Sunday school teacher, bible study leader, and many years in Women's Ministry. Her favorite bible verse was 1 John 4:19, We love because He first loved us. Ruth showed God's love in her roles as a daughter, big sister, wife, mother, aunt, nana, and friend. Ruth enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was an active member of the Wake Forest Garden Club and the General James Moore chapter of the DAR.

Ruth will be greatly missed by us here on earth, but through our sadness, we will rejoice because she is in Heaven.

A  Celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 9th at 2 pm in the Wake Forest Baptist Church followed by Inurnment in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens. The family will have visitation on Tuesday June 8th in the Bright Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.

In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ruth's memory to the OSU Foundation-Cal Waller Jr. Scholarship or The Koinonia Foundation of Wake Forest.
