Shawn Anthony Cretens

Shawn Anthony Cretens, 54, was born in Milwaukee, WI and raised in Sierra Vista, AZ. He eventually left Arizona to live in San Jose, California with his wife Jackie Cretens where they had two sons, Tyler and Ryan. They settled in North Carolina in 1997 where Shawn and his family lived until his departure on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 after battling Lung Cancer for 3 years.  

Shawn was a family man, a man that would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. He lived a simple life and one that was led by common sense, fearlessness, and outright candor. He was a tough and resilient individual, taking every challenge that life threw at him with courage and bravery. He knew how to light up a room and had a knack for making people laugh with his witty humor. He loved to golf, work on cars, play the guitar, watch UFC, and spend quality time with his family. He is the embodiment of a free spirit, and his legacy will live on forever. May God bless him and grant him eternal life.  

He is preceded in death by his caring mother, Bonita Cretens, and his sister, Kim Cretens.

Shawn is survived by his loving wife of 32 years,  Jackie Cretens; his two sons Tyler and Ryan Cretens; his father James Cretens; his brother's Nick and James Cretens; his sister Holly Cretens, his nephew Wisdom Cretens, his niece's Amber and Morgan Cretens in addition to his existing aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

A Celebration of Shawn’s life will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday evening at Bright Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Bridges officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM Saturday evening at the funeral home.
