Shirley Merril Galaviz

Shirley M. (Richardson) Galaviz; age 83, beloved wife, mother and grandmother to three generations passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on May 15th, 1934 in Beaverton, Michigan to Joseph and Sarah Richardson. She married Salvador Galaviz on August 15, 1953 and lived in Troy, Michigan where she raised their five children. Shirley spent her last two years living in Youngsville NC.

While raising her five children, Shirley spent many hours volunteering in the school, community and church. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting grandchildren and remained involved in the community. She loved to travel and had no fear of venturing out on her own.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Salvador Galaviz; children, Brenda Tabaka, Vicki Bondie, Cynthia (Martin) Green and Salvador (Gloria) Galaviz; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sarah Richardson; son, Roger Galaviz; brothers, Joseph Richardson, Ronnie Richardson, and John Richardson; sisters, Rosalie Crago, and Mary Mathiesen.
