Steve Winston Hooker

Steven Winston Hooker, (Steve) 64, of Raleigh passed away on Saturday June 25, 2022 in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.  

Steve’s first love was his family. His loyalty and faithfulness to care for, provide and protect were instinctual from the time he was a teenager. He was a pillar of support to his mother, his siblings, his children, nieces, nephews and grandchild.

Steve was a well-known and respected business leader in the community as the Marketing and Catering Director of Milton’s Pizza and Pasta. He remained a devoted fan and ambassador throughout the entirety of his life. A fun fact; Steve was the first bartender in Raleigh to serve liquor by the drink.

Steve enjoyed the comradery of his Thursday night poker buddies for many years. He loved to talk politics to anyone who would listen and tell “Dad Jokes” to all! Cribbage was a game he loved and enjoyed playing in tournaments with his son and friends. He bragged that he was a Chicago Cubs fan before it was cool to be one. He was passionate about NC State Basketball and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Steve was a man after God’s own heart and knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed fellowship with many friends through Bible Study.

Steve is survived by his children; Jessica Floyd, Catherine Hooker, Joseph Hooker, and Lillie Hooker, their mother, Mary Anne Janik, his grandson; Matthew Floyd, his brothers; Marke Hooker, Sterling Hooker, and Winston Hooker, his sister; Kathryn Hooker, his mother; Lydia Pond, his father, Winston Hooker and his Step Mother, Judi Hooker. 

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 10 at 2PM in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Wake Forest, NC. Friends may visit with the family from 1PM till the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Smile Train” and “Tunnel to Towers”, two organizations that Steve supported for years.
