Welcome to the memorial page for

Tessie Jones Jackson

February 27, 2018

On the morning of February 27, Tessie took her final breath from this life and entered into joy and peace forever to be with her loving Savior.  She was born to Johnny and Ida O’Neal Jones and was predeceased in death by her siblings: Gaston, Arlan, Lee, James, Kaddell and Esther.  Waiting for her arrival was the love of her life, her husband, Robert Lee Sr., and her two sons, Benny Charles and Robert Jr and her daughter-in-law Carol.  She is survived by her daughter Betty (Kenneth) Jenkins;  grandsons Robert Jenkins and Allen (Charlotte) Jenkins, Randy (Julie) Jackson and Dean Jackson; granddaughter Amy (Curt) Friese; great-grandsons Wesley Nipper, Cole Jenkins and Zachary Jackson; and great granddaughters Kiersten Nipper, Lauren and Reed Jenkins, Kimberlie Heater and Taylor Jackson.

A funeral Service will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in the chapel at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Tessie was a charter member of the New Light Church of God and served in many capacities for over 60 years.  She was an organizer and was instrumental in raising money for the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans memorial located on the Capitol Grounds in Raleigh.  She served on the committee to erect the Wake Forest Veterans Memorial located at Heritage.

Tessie retired from Aerotron Electronics as a Supervisor and later worked as a Hostess for Hampton Inn.  She loved working in the garden, freezing vegetables and was known for her world famous fried chicken, hamburger steaks and collards.

Tessie loved flowers and they would be nice; however, if you would rather make a donation to a worthy cause the family suggests the Church of God Children’s Home, 3485 Orphanage Circle, Concord, NC 28027, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Fundraising Office, 2101 Rexford Rd., #165 West, Charlotte, NC 28211.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 pm Thursday, March 1, 2018 before the service at Bright Funeral Home.
