Violet T Winstead

Violet T. Winstead, 85, of Zebulon, passed away December 10, 2019 in Louisburg. She was born August 17, 1934 in Franklin County a daughter of the late Lee and Lucy (Carter) Tant.  She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph Winstead, her children: Evelyn “Pinky” Martin, William “Doc” Martin; her siblings: Mayzell Jones and Joe Tant; and a granddaughter, Cassie Nicole Martin. 

Violet went to Harris’ School in Louisburg. She enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing and traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains. She will be greatly missed by her family and her cat, Kitty Boo.  

Violet is survived by her children: Betty Russell and husband George, of Zebulon, Wesley Martin, of Bunn, Terry Martin, of Zebulon, Tammy Walters and husband Henry, of Spring Hope; she also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 13, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 5356 Pearces Rd. Zebulon, NC 27597. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Fairview Town Cemetery, Franklinton.
