Ruth Denton

Wiley “Ruth” Frazier Denton, 95, of Wake Forest, N.C., peacefully passed to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 18, 2018.  She was born Dec. 31, 1922 in Wake County to her parents Wiley Jackson Frazier and Florence Young Frazier.  On Aug. 29th 1942, she married the love of her life Hubert “Doc” Kearney Denton.  The couple was married for over 53 years and had 4 children together.

Mrs. Ruth was a faithful member of Glen Royal Baptist Church in W.F. where she worked tirelessly as the Church Pianist from 1964 until she retired at the age of 90 in 2012.  She worked professionally as an administrative assistant at Wake Electric in W.F for 50 years. Mrs. Ruth dedicated her life to serving Glen Royal Baptist Church, her family, friends, and community. She played piano for numerous weddings, funerals, and nursing homes throughout her life. 

Mrs. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Hubert Denton, son Robert “Bobby” Denton, sister Beulah Caudle, and sister Lib Bartholomew.  She is survived by her children:

Daughter, Linda Stinnett of Sneads Ferry, NC

Grandchildren: Kevin Ray and wife Susan; Richard Joseph Stinnett Jr. and wife Lori

Great Grandchildren: Cason Ray and wife Carol Ann, Caitlin Ray Palmer and husband Zach, Cayleigh Ray, and Dylan Stein; Declan and Conall Stinnett.

Daughter, Diane Morrison, husband Oscar of Greeneville, TN

Grandchildren: Robin Morrison; Jason Morrison and wife Naomi

Great Grandchildren: Lydia, Chloe, Karis, and Titus Morrison.

Daughter, Susan Jones, husband Mark of Raleigh, NC

Grandchildren: Jenny Ayers and husband Darin; Tanner Jones and wife Kayla

Great Grandchildren: Darin Jr., Kathryn Ruth, and Mary Leigh Ayers; Caiden Jones.

Grandchildren Robert Denton Jr., (son of Robert “Bobby” Denton) and wife Connie

Great Grandchildren: Ashley Hacker and husband Jon; Cory Denton and wife Cristal; Brittany Bruenning and husband David

Great-Great Grandchildren: Elisabeth, Sklyar and Aria Hacker; Rylan Denton; Micah Bruenning.

Ruth lived the last 7 years of her life with her granddaughter Jenny Ayers and family who lovingly cared for her and will miss her dearly. They appreciate the wonderful inspiration she was to so many in her life.  Ruth passed at Rex Hospital with Jenny by her side.  A special Thank you to Rachel for being her loving caregiver. 

A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Glen Royal Baptist Church, 731 Elizabeth Ave., Wake Forest, NC 27587. The family will visit with friends and family prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. Interment will follow at Wake Forest Cemetery.
