Tribute

William Clark Goodall, lovingly known as Bill, bid farewell to this world on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the age of 81. Born November 27, 1941 in Summit, NJ, Bill’s journey took him far and wide with his final resting place in Raleigh NC.

Bill is the oldest son of the late William and Dorothy M. Goodall. At a young age the family moved to Barrington, RI and graduating from Barrington High School he then ventured forth to Cornell University, where he found his soulmate and wife, Diana Hall Goodall, of 59 years.

Serving in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967, Bill reached the rank of Lieutenant starting with a cross country journey with his new wife that landed them stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After what began as what they considered a three-year honeymoon mixed in with hard work the stage was set for pure perseverance, determination, and a life together to succeed.

After his time in the Navy, Bill’s professional journey took him to University of Massachusetts to complete his Master of Business Administration and then on to a successful 30-year expedition with Corning Inc. and Bayer Corporation. Climbing the corporate ladder with many moves, he finally claimed the title of Vice President and Controller, a position that showcased his remarkable introspection, financial prowess, talent for planning ahead, and desire for lengthy, detailed, sit-down discussions to share his ideas.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill had a zest for life that was felt by everyone. When he wasn’t crunching numbers or making shrewd business decisions, he could be found detailing the next family vacation or reunion, playing card games, taking nature walks with his dog, playing tennis, spending time with friends, and basking in the melodies of country music. Whether he was belting out a twangy tune on the guitar, playing the piano, or trying to outwit his bridge opponents, Bill’s enthusiasm was evident.

Above all else, family held a special place in Bill’s heart. He treasured every moment spent with his wife Diana, and their three children, W. Scott Goodall of Warwick, RI, Barbara Mykytyn (Kirt) of Oneonta, NY and Darrin Goodall (Carrie) of Wake Forest, NC. Bill’s legacy continued through the lives of his four adored grandchildren, Jakob Mykytyn (Bria), Nickolas Mykytyn, Anna Fann (James), and William Goodall. His brother Harold Bruce Goodall (Ginna) and sister Joan Fasulo along with their children and families provided a lifetime of camaraderie and shared adventures that created lifelong cherished memories.

A private Celebration of Life was held in honor of Bill’s remarkable journey, bringing together those closest to him to share stories and toast a life well-lived. The Goodall family would like to extend their gratitude to Suabrina Walker for her unwavering care and love over the past 18 months.

In remembrance of Bill’s vibrant spirit and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (www.michaeljfox.org) or a charity of your choice.

As we bid farewell to William Clark Goodall, let us remember him with smiles and laughter. His love for life, family, and a competitive game of bridge will forever remain etched in our hearts. Rest in peace.
