Adelaide Brooks was such a lovely, lively lady. We remember her from her days at Ravenscroft, especially for her ready smile and her fun costumes at Halloween. We also remember her from Republican precinct days. She was a dedicated and civic-minded individual.

Frankly, until we saw the announcement of her passing (which we saw belatedly as we were out of the country), we had no idea she was a member of the Greatest Generation. We had not seen her in many years so we're sure that, like all of us, she had aged, but to us she will always be perpetually young. Such was her spirit, and now she and Bob are together, and once again, they are young.
Sincerely,
Jeanne and David Smoot

Nancy and David-

We were saddened to read of Adelaide's passing but not at all surprised that this gracious and energetic woman lived for a century. We have many fond memories of Adelaide and Bob when we were neighbors in Wake Forest. When we moved to Fearrington Village, and later to Beaufort, Adelaide visited with us, and it was always a pleasure to have her. My fondest memory of her is a trip into the Rialto theater in Raleigh to see the film, Cyrano de Bergerac. Halfway through the movie, she leaned over and said, "Debbie, if we each get another glass of wine, we will understand ALL this French." I loved her, and Ron and I want you to know that you and all your family (especially her wonderful sister, Betty) are in our thoughts and prayers. She was a woman of great faith, and we all know where she is.
