James E. Underwood

James “Jim” Eaves Underwood, 88, of Youngsville passed away on Wednesday evening December 13, 2017 at Rex Hospital. He was born in Charlotte, the son of the late Ruby Eaves Underwood and Jack J. Underwood. Mr. Underwood was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Green Underwood and a brother; Perrin Underwood.

Mr. Underwood led a life of service to others. He was a long time mayor of Youngsville and a life time member of the Lions Club. He was a former scout master for the Boy Scouts, a deacon in the Youngsville Baptist Church and a long time volunteer with Meals on Wheels.  An avid woodworker and electrician, he was always willing to lend a hand to support the community.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon December 17, 2017 in the Youngsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Cemetery.

Mr. Underwood is survived by his children; Rob Underwood and wife, Charlotte of Indialantic, FL, Greg Underwood and wife, Sally of Charlotte, and Cora U. Lee and husband, Jim of West Chester, OH, grandchildren; James Underwood, Robert Underwood, Cora Katherine Lee Jones and husband Torin, Parker Lee and Elizabeth Underwood.
