Dear Katy,

You were a kind and loving Aunt. We will always have fond memories of our times
together---recalling the holidays, vacations, and numerous get-togethers that we
shared. This Holiday Season is saddened by your passing, but it will also be a
time to "rejoice" in your 105 years of life. May you have peace in God's hands.

with love,

rick & paula

Thank you for this opportunity to honor Katie who lived at Springmoor for so many years.

I absolutely *adored* her and felt so honored to know her and work with her.

At 105 years of age, she had her mental faculties and was as limber as a gymnast! I appreciated the example she set for others by walking every day.

We would laugh when I would tell her that "when I 'grow up,"I want to be just like you!"
She always had good advice for my 88 year old mother ("just a kid"), and she had great fun meeting my 14 mo. old grandson, who I am sure she could hardly see but greatly enjoyed the little bit of commotion he created. the day he came to Springmoor to meet her with his red hair, blankey-bag sleeper, and the elephant toy he was was using to help him walk. She asked about him all the time afterward.

I felt very close to Katie, and although she lived at Springmoor she came to feel like family.

Many of us have been greatly affected by her loss. She was a reason to go to work every day, knowing that we are doing God’s work. What an honor to work with a Centenarian like her!

It is really neat for us to see photos of her from an earlier time. To stay oriented, she worked very hard to stay focused on the present and didn’t like to talk about her past too much. If there are more photos of earlier days, please let us know!

We are also very interested to know of any final resting place at Springmoor for her ashes. If so, we will be stopping by from time to time with a thought or a prayer and a flower.

We miss her very much but know she is in a better place.

I remember so many good times from the visits at her house with Johnny in Rumford, RI and flying down to Sarasota for visits out on Long Boat Key, searching for turtle shells and sharks teeth on the beach to getting burgers at Moore's. Katy showed me the sport of tennis, I recall some doubles matches at the Bradenton Country club, and the lessons she treated me to on the clay courts. Katy taught me that staying physically fit and mentally sharp pays off in the long run. From the many voyages Katy took with my mother I learned the benefits and wonders of foreign travel. Katy was very traditional in many respects while being modern in others. Now I realize that Katy actually introduced me to a few of the current health food trends but decades before they were popular such as couscous and brown rice. Katy was an avid walker and could easily walk a fast 3 miles into her 80's, I think she may be the reason why I enjoy distance running so much. Much love and respect my friend.

With love and compassion,
Jon
