Dear Nora & family, My sincere condolences. Tom will be sadly missed, in particular that great big smile that always greeted us in JFK. We knew that instant we would enjoy every minute of our trip. Nothing was too much trouble & you were always a great man to tell a story. We enjoyed many delicious homemade cocktails in North Babylon & we shared some great times. I will always cherish these times. May you rest in peace. Margaret Kilkenny πŸ’•

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ.

You were such a generous, positive, funny guy who I am lucky to call my Grandpa! You never failed to make Abs and I, and all the other crazy grandkids, laugh and smile with your many jokes and stories. There's not enough words to describe how much we already miss you and how much we love you. Rest in Peace Gramps, we're always thinking of you, forever in our hearts xxxx

To all the Gourlay family, we would like to offer our deepest sympathies at this time. Tom always had a smile and a joke for us when he visited with aunty Nora.
May he rest in peace.

Tom, although we only had a short period of time to spend short visits together you were an inspiration. I am so sorry you had to suffer through these past few years but you never let your situation affect how you treated me and always welcomed my visits. A truer friend cannot be found.
I mourn for you and your beautiful family who you were and should be proud of. I will miss you forever and in moments at my club pokers games I will always remember you. It's how we first met and it is important to note that you were the only player that I ever mentored who never lost a penny.
I hope to meet you somewhere down the road, because I know you are going to be in the company of many blessed people.
My heart goes out to Nora and all your family.Rest in Peace my dear friend.

To a great brother in law, thank you so much for the great times you gave us, when we visited New York, the lovely trips we had together. Also the great effort you made trying to make me a better golfer, the day you took us to that great golf club,"Winged Foot". My ability to play golf did not improve but what an experience. Play well. We will meet again sometime I hope on some fairway. Christy. XX

Despite only short, sporadic encounters with you in my life you were always a warm, funny, and a great person to be in the company of. My favourite memories of you will always be sitting back in the reclining chair in your den in the house on Long Island in 2006 and chatting about life, not to mention the little whiskey hip flask you gave when I was leaving which I still have to this day. Or back in 1994 trying to hit golf balls into the net in the garage as a young teenager. Great times and great memories.

You've lived a long, happy, and prosperous life with my wonderful Aunt Nora, and together where you've seen your family prosper and become the epitome of your values and personality. Rest in Peace.

Dear Nora, Tom Jnr, Debbie, Denise & Marion.
Our sincere condolences on the passing of a truly wonderful husband and Dad.. My heart breaks for you guys. Uncle Tom or as he liked us to call him "Unk the punk" was one in a million.. He always went above & beyond when anyone from our family visited the states. Nothing was too much trouble. He had such a great sense of fun & you were always guaranteed a laugh while in his company. I have fond memories of our trip to Coney Island & our spin on the wooden roller coaster with Uncle Tom.
It was so lovely to have him home for our wedding in 2014 and I'm so very grateful to have spent that time with him..
May his gentle soul rest in peace.. πŸ’•
Love to you all. Marion, Donal & Jack.

Hey Chief! Thank you for all the love, support and guidance you gave me. A large part of my success in life is down to you.
I could not have asked for a better father in law. I look back at all the great times we had together at Chelsea Ave, all the holiday parties, the numerous sporting events we went to together and various trips across the USA and Europe. Some of my greatest times were spent with you. You were such a kind, generous and positive person. You truly were one of the good guys and it was a privilege to have known you. I miss you. Till we meet again. Love you always. Cheers Al

RIP to a very special guy Uncle Tom.I am so very thankful for the wonderful memories I got to share with him from my trips to Long Island and of course his many trip to Ireland. My first trip to the U.S was the one of the hottest summers in 50 year's and we were met in JFK by Uncle Tom and Aunt Nora. And what an adventure we had from day trips to Robert Moses beach. Cocktail making, bbqs and beers all for my benefit of course!!! And our car ride to get KFC because he knew I liked it. And it was on that car ride I got alot of relationship advice, that was needed at the time. Uncle Tom was so good for keeping in touch and he took a keen interest in my life. From letters with sales coupons in it when he knew we were taking a trip to the states. To general fun letters with lots of humour. He had a great sense of humour and his emails always contained a good joke in them. I will miss his kind and fun nature. But am so very grateful to have had him as my 'Unk the punk'! RIP.. xx
