Welcome to the memorial page for

Elizabeth Louise Moody

November 21, 1930 ~ February 20, 2018 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Elizabeth Louise Harman (Betty Lou) Moody went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018.  She was born on November 21, 1930 to Gladys Gray Goodwin Harman and Robert Wilson Harman of Tazewell VA.  She had two brothers, Robert Wilson Harman Jr. and Jack Harlow Harman.  Their family resided in Tazewell VA, except for the years they lived at the base in Ft. Huachuca Arizona where her father was the base photographer for the Army during WW2.

She graduated from Tazewell High School and then from State Teachers College in Business and English Education, now known as Longwood University, in 1952.  She taught for over 25 years in her field touching many young lives for the better.

In 1953 she met the love of her life, John Chrystor Moody and they married in 1955.  They moved to the Washington DC area and raised their family in Laurel MD.  They had three children, John Chrystor Moody Jr. (Chris) married to June Moody, Lynn Harman Moody Rannels, married to Jay Rannels, and Ellen Grey Moody Fuhrer, now married to Robert Fuhrer.

Elizabeth and John retired back in Blackstone VA, and enjoyed many good years together while watching their family grow as they gained 8 grandchildren during that time; Jaclyn, Christa, Jensen and Allie Rannels, and Jacob, Elize, John and Emma Yacovelli.  In their final years they decided to move to Wake Forest NC to be with family.  It was here where she survived John by almost two years.  She bravely battled Alzheimer’s disease for ten years with the help and support of her loving husband and her three devoted children and their spouses, and her wonderful involved grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, back in Blackstone VA, at Butterwood United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth's family would appreciate memorial donations may be made to the study of Alzheimer's www.brightfocus.org/donate.
